DAKSHINAVARTI SHANKH FOR ALL ROUND PROSPERITY AND WEALTH

August 26, 2012

DakshinaVarti Shankh-Sri Lakshmi Shankh
(Right-sided Conch Shell)

Dakshinavarti Shankh, Valampuri Sanggu in Tamil or  Sri Lakshmi Shankh, is a sacred Hindu object otherwise known in English as a conch shell. This is the shell of a large sea snail from Indian ocean but has rare reverse turning spiral. In other words, when it is held with the spout (siphonal canal) pointed up, this conch's spiral twists rightwards (dakshinavarti) rather than very much more common form, which twists leftwards (vamavarti).

A majority of conch shells open on the left side, i.e., they are formed anti-clockwise. In contrast, those that open on the right side, i.e., formed clockwise, are rare, but very auspicious to keep in homes. These are expensive. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi resides permanently in white conch shells that open on the right side (Dakshinavarti shankh). Both, Goddess Lakshmi and the right-sided conch shell have their origin in the sea and are believed to have the same father. A right-sided conch shell is considered the younger brother of Goddess Lakshmi.
The glory of a right-sided conch shell has been described in Hindu Scriptures.
“In whatever home you find white right-sided conch shells, happiness and well-being shall always be there. Goddess Lakshmi lives there. In whatever home one uses sandalwood, camphor, flowers, rice and other items to offer prayers regularly that home shall be fortunate and prosperous like Krishna.”
It is believed that whoever owns a pair of right-sided conch shells shall always hold exalted positions and be successful in whatever he does. Misery and failure keep away. Daily reverence and methodical offering of prayers to it shall bring success and fulfilment. When it is placed in a shop, it promotes success in business. At home, it attracts wealth and happiness. Placed with foodgrains, it promotes prosperity. It is truly a symbol of glory and prosperity.

In the Lakshmi Samhita, it is described as capable of attracting wealth and success. Maharishi Vishwamitra notes that to attract prosperity and hapiness, this conch shell is incomparable.
Maharishi Markanday has explained that on all occasions when one prays toLakshmi, the right-sided conch (DakshinaVarti Shankh) shell gives ample testimony of its ability to attract wealth and prosperity. To get rid off malefic planetery effects, evils and black magic. Just fill it with Ganges water and sprinkle it on a person or in premises.

If a person’s moon is malefic or afflicted, then this shankha/conch could be used to abhishek Shiv Linga. Pure water or Ganges water should be filled in the conch and then abhishek of Shiv Linga should be done. If the Shiv Linga is Narmadeshwar Shiv Linga it would improve the effects.
If a person is facing financial troubles or inability to have good savings, the conch could be used to improve savings and generate additional sources of income. The water of the Shanka is also good for improving eye sight for which water kept in shankha over night should be used to wash eyes.
If a person is excessively angry, the water kept in Shankha over night should be given to such person to drink. It will have magical effects.
The use of Sphatik mala could be made to worship this shankha and mantra of Mahalakshmi should be chanted along with listening Shree Sukta. It will provide good effects to the worshipper.
This shankha should be kept in the home and while going for important work, have a look at it, bow towards it and you will be able to increase chances of success.
The water kept overnight in this shankha also proves to be good for stomach problems. Water should be kept overnight in Shankha and then it should be consumed in morning empty stomach.
Dakshinavarti Shanka has thousands of other advantages. Have this shankha in your house and increase prosperity and wealth. Worship Maa Lakshmi and Shri Vishnu with full devotion and you will see the blessings of this shankha.

CELEBRATE NAG PANCHAMI AND GET RELIEF FROM KAAL SARPA DOSHA

Celebrating Naag Panchami, its significance and method of celebration

Nag Panchami is celebrated on Panchami of Shukla Paksh in Sharavan Masa. In the year 2012, Panchami Tithi falls on 23/07/2012 (8.12 am) and will continue till 24/07/2012 (06.52 am). Nag Panchami should be celebrated with full devotion and Lord Shiva should be offered abhishek with milk mixed water or clear water. It would remove the ill effects of Kaal Sarpa Dosha in the horoscope. Nag panchami and Kal Sarpa dosha are associated with each other. According to Hindu Astrology – Nag Panchami day is very auspicious to do pooja for serpents (Nag) and to remove Kaal Sarpa dosha in kundali. (Kaal Sarpa dosha happens when all planets come in the axis of Rahu and Ketu). This dosha casts adverse results in one's life, incurs pain and put hindrances in all the works of the native.

On this day, Devotees visit temples which are dedicated to snakes to worship them. The temples of Lord Shiva are much preferred as he had a liking for snakes. In South India, snake images are carved out of cow dung and pasted near doors to welcome the snake god. Some of the devotees visit the holes of the anthills since they feel snakes are found in them.

On the day of Nag Panchami, having a vision of snake is considered auspicious. Snakes are considered as the incarnation of power and sun. It is said that, the one who worship God snake on Panchami of Shravan maas will be free from Naag Dosh. On Naag Panchami, fast is kept in order to make God Snake happy. In this fast, after the sunset and whole day fasting, Kheer is prepared as an offering for God snake while worshiping it. First of all the Kheer is offered to God snake or to Lord Shiva, and then eaten as Prashad (offering from God), by everyone. In this fast, intake of salt and fried things is prohibited. The person keeping the fast should follow all the rules.
On the day of Naag Panchami, people keeping fast, make a sculpture of snake with cow dung, having five heads, on both side of house’s threshold. Red soil can also be used if, in case cow dung is not available. After this, Snake God is worshiped with milk, grass, Kusha, sandalwood, Akshat(rice used in worshiping),flower, sweet(Ladoo) and Naag source or following Naag mantras are chanted
" ऊँ कुरुकुल्ये हुँ फट स्वाहा"
Chanting this mantra on rosary, three times, pleases the snake God. The fragrance of sandalwood is especially dear to Serpent God. Hence, sandalwood should be used while worshiping. White lotus is used in today’s prayer. Chanting of the above mentioned mantras, reduces the inauspicious effect of Kaalsarpa Yoga that is, the pacification of Kaal Sarpa Yoga.

What Not to Do on Nag Panchami(Very Important)

On the day of Naag Panchami, Snake God should not be fed with milk. Worshipers, if desire can make the Shiva Linga have a milk bath. Knowing that, drinking of milk can kill a snake, in such a situation feeding them with milk is like killing your God with your hands. Hence, avoid this mistake because snakes don’t drink milk, and if they do and are unable to digest it, they die. So basically instead of praying to the snakes or actually revering them, we might in fact be killing them by providing them milk. Some people may ask why the snake would drink milk if Milk is a mammal drink and not required or usually drank by snakes (it isn’t for reptiles) and if it kills them. The answer is that Snake-charmers usually don’t give their snakes water and food for a while before Nag Panchami. So, on that particular day, when the snakes find access to milk they drink it to soothe their parched throats and to satisfy their hunger. Essentially, they have no choice but to drink the milk for it is almost a matter of survival. And then, if they digest it, well and good… let’s hope they don’t drink it again, but if they don’t.. you have just caused another being of this earth his/her brutal death. So, please next time anyone feels like revering snakes or wants to adhere to the true spirit of Nag Panchami, leave some water out please. It will probably serve the snake better.
Happy Nag Panchami
