I am writing this post
for the benefit of each and every individual in this country who is struggling
to pay rising cost of branded medicines in India. All of you must be aware that
rising healthcare costs in India has made it difficult for the poor section of
the society to avail even basic health services. Senior citizens who do not
have medical health care reimbursement facilities are also struggling with
higher costs of branded medicines. In this scenario, Jan Aushadhi Centres run
by Government of India are a blessing for all.
Through this post I
want to create awareness about Jan Aushadhi Centres started under Jan Aushadhi
Scheme launched by Government of India in 2008 to ensure that medicines can be
availed by anyone and at a very cheaper price. Medicines available at the Jan
Aushadhi centres are 50-90 per cent cheaper than branded drugs available in the
market. This is a great help for the common man, especially for senior citizens
who require medicines on a daily basis and results in a lot of saving.
These Jan Aushadhi
Kendras are available in almost all the cities across India. I am sharing a
link also where you can see the nearest Jan Aushadhi Kendra and visit there for
buying medicines at cheap rates. The link is given below for Delhi and for
other cities when you visit this link see on the right side and you will find tabs
of cities and you can search for the address in your city.
Please note that generic
medicines are unbranded medicines which are equally safe and having the same
efficacy as that of branded medicines in terms of their therapeutic value. The
prices of generic medicines are much cheaper than their branded equivalent.
Generic drugs sold in such medical stores conform to the prescribed standards
set by the World Health Organisation (WHO). I am sharing a screenshot of
comparison of some of the medicines available in these kendras and the market
prices and you yourself can see the difference in prices.
